M.O.N.T.E. is a battle ready, full-fledged, attack and defense, combat robot, capable of reducing its opponent from somewhat eloquent to a pile of rubble. To accomplish this, it has the most powerful [in its weight limit] 18000 revs per minute [RPM] motor that drives the industrial grade carbon steel reinforced diamond tip metal blade, which can cut you, just by looking at it.
M.O.N.T.E.’s chassis is made up of carbon fiber reinforced, sheet metal and aluminium square bars. These not only shield the ‘plush technologies’ that are the brains of this 17lbs [8kg] beast from flamethrowers [yes! actual machines spitting fire], cutters and EMP [Electromagnetic Pulses], but also keep it more compact, so that it can be agile. To make it mobile, I have used a pair of DC motors that are like no other [and are a trade secret] which make it possible to push, even the heftiest and adamant of opponents, out of the battlefield. To power this guzzling monstrosity, I have used automobile grade 12V 16 Ampere deep cycle marine batteries [that are enough to start a normal sized sedan].M.O.N.T.E. is fully wireless ,operating on the 2.4Ghz frequency range and operates up to a distance of about 100mtrs.
The most significant feature of M.O.N.T.E. is perhaps the wittiest and simplest of all, i.e. its ability to be fully functional and mobile, even after it has been tipped over by the opponent. It took me a total of three weeks, to transform my idea into a reality.
Of course, I didn’t have an arch enemy to use M.O.N.T.E. on, so instead I quench its thirst for metal by entering it into various inter school competitions or ROBOWARS. It’s not only won a few school organised competitions but it has also made a name in several college fests.
